404 Errors in WordPress

404 errors are a cause of concern for many WordPress users.  These errors not only affect user experience on our site, they can also affect our site’s performance on search engines. Today I will show how to get email alerts for 404 errors in WordPress.
First thing we need to do is install and activate the 404 Notifier plugin. Upon activation, we need to go to Settings » 404 Notifier to configure the plugin.
Setting up 404 notification email alerts in WordPress
Simply check the box next to Enable mail notifications on 404 hits and provide an email address where we would like to receive notifications.  After entering the email address, click on the Update 404 Notifier Settings button to save your settings.
To test the plugin, visit any non-existent page on your site (such as yoursite.com/lala404), and you will get an email notification of the 404 error in your inbox.
